Specifiers’ Seminar,
on
The Use of Lime Mortars and Renders,
Thursday, 13 September 2007
This seminar follows a very successful seminar held at the BRE offices
in Garston in 2002. At that seminar, the Architectural benefits of lime in
construction were discussed, along with the structural assessment of
loadbearing walls. Since 2002, members of the Building Limes Forum have
been involved with the BRE in the significant amount of research that has
been undertaken. This research has developed the work published in the
book “Hydraulic Lime Mortar for Stone, Brick and Block Masonry”. The
seminar will discuss the results of this research and the implications on
new building, cavity construction and expansion joints.
Using Lime Hemp walling can help to produce carbon negative buildings. The
use and design of Lime Hemp will be outlined and cover Adnams Distribution
Centre and other landmark buildings.
